At Schachtner´s you can feast, celebrate, dream and certainly eat very well. In the restaurant and on the terrace with its wonderful mountain panorama, you feel like you're in heaven on earth. Anja and Thomas Schachtner have created a gem here with a great deal of love, sophistication and care, where no culinary wishes are left unfulfilled. On the contrary, most wishes are read from your eyes. Meat and fish, vegetables and fruit are processed and prepared with love. “We put all our passion into it, because we always have the happy guest in mind.”
The standards are high. This applies to the first-class quality, but of course also to the freshness of the products. And it is thanks to these standards and their love of food that they bake their own bread, prepare their own ice cream and pasta, mix spices and smoke freshly caught fish in their own smoker.
But they also take great care when selecting suppliers in terms of the origin and regionality of the agricultural produce, as well as in terms of rearing, care and slaughtering.
“You will always find classics such as Böfflamott or char with us, but you will also always experience a little “culinary wink” such as a pumpernickel porcini mushroom rösti or an ice cream from Werthers-Echte-Bonbons. Taste buds like surprises too!”
The regular Pizza Sundays are also popular. “Everyone comes together, very relaxed, usually outside and always very cheerful!”
Thomas Schachtner
Thomas Schachtner “a Münchner Kindl” was trained as a chef in Michelin-starred restaurants. Before that, he completed an apprenticeship as a pastry chef. Cooking is not work for Thomas, “It's life, it's happiness, it's fulfillment!”
Another passion of his is fishing. Since his youth, preferably on Lake Ammersee. This is where Thomas can completely relax, recharge his batteries and develop ideas.
In 2011, together with his wife Anja, “a Cologne girl”, he started his own business in Munich and then steadily headed south. “We finally found our gastronomic home in the beautiful Zugspitz village of Grainau.”
