Via St. Anton, Gamshütte and Eckenhütte to Mount Wank
This tour leads you on well-developed hiking paths through a very old pine forest above Partenkirchen, with magnificent views of the valley, the Waxenstein Mountains and the mountain ranges of the Wetterstein and the Zugspitze.
Mount Wank is Garmisch-Partenkirchen's sunny panorama mountain, because you have a fantastic view of the Waxenstein mountains and the Zugspitz massif. Up on the summit you can enjoy a 360° panorama, from the Wetterstein mountain range to the Karwendel and also to the alpine upland and the nature reserve Murnauer Moos in the north. If you just want to enjoy the scenery without the climb, the cable car takes you to higher regions, where you can relax and sunbathe.
The hut at Mount Wank, the Wank-Haus (Alois-Huber-Haus), located at an altitude difference of about 80 m above the glacier streams of the ice age on the round dome of Mount Wank, offers the possibility to spend the night in a romantic lodging.
This tour is one of many routes up the sunny Mount Wank. At the foot of the mountain there is a huge variety of hiking and walking paths, for the summer and the winter months alike.
Due to its excellent thermal lift, Mount Wank is very popular with paragliders. When the weather is fine, you can watch those masters of the skies take off to their flights.
