Kriegergedächtniskapelle in Garmisch-Partenkirchen
A memorial at the base of the Kramer
In remembrance of those who have died or went missing during the Second World War, a memorial was erected in 1952 below the Berggasthof St. Martin (mountain inn) at the Kramerplateau trail: the Kriegergedächtniskapelle (warrior remembrance chapel). It stands on a plateau in the northwest of Garmisch-Partenkirchen at the base of the Kramer. The chapel with a conical roof and a polygonal spire was built by Hans Ostler. In close proximity of the chapel, there are multiple memorial stones and a stone altar with a big wooden cross.
Whether it’s during a hike or on a bicycle tour – you might want to stop at the Kriegergedächtniskapelle for a moment and commemorate those who lost their lives in the war.
