The famous old parish church of St. Martin is located in the picturesque historic district of Garmisch. For a long time, it was the only parish church in the region and a meeting point for the believers of the wider area of the Loisachtal and Isartal valley. The old parish of St. Martin was founded at the beginning of the 9th century and, around 1280, the Romanic church was built.
There are several lavish gothic mural paintings and stained-glass windows to admire. Especially impressive: the seven-metre-high representation of Saint Christopher from the year 1330 as well as the baroque-style high altar.
